Have you tried this angle?

SECTION 13:  ASSESSMENT OF VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION NEEDS

As soon as eligibility has been determined and to the extent necessary, the Rehabilitation Counselor conducts an Assessment of Vocational Rehabilitation Needs (AVRN) to determine, as appropriate in each case, the nature and scope of needed services.  The assessment and subsequent IPE must address the participant’s barrier to employment and identify methods for removing or diminishing the barriers

Words to the wise for sure.

I wholeheartedly agree. Your children will not remember what they got for Christmas last year but you can bet they will remember being cold, hungry or homeless.

People, please get your priorities straight and meet their basic needs before toys.

Indian Lawsuit

As a presidential candidate, Mr. Obama said, “I pledged my commitment to resolving this issue, and I am proud that my administration has taken this step today.”

For the agreement to become final, Congress must enact legislation and the federal courts must then sign off on it. Administration officials said they hoped those two steps would be completed in the next few months.

Under the settlement, the government would pay $1.4 billion to compensate the Indians for their claims of historical accounting irregularities and any accusation that federal officials mismanaged the administration of the land itself over the years.

Each member of the class would receive a check for $1,000, and the rest of the money would be distributed according to the land owned. In addition, legal fees, to be determined by a judge, would be paid from that fund.

in response to The Sunset Hero...   That was a very empathetic heartfelt reply except for the dishonorable discharge remark.  It is truly a shame but his vet status may not have netted him any other alternative employment. Please offer him the same benefit of doubt that you have extended so graciously to others.
Comment on: Our Existing Health System Kills More Grandmas Than Any Phony 'Death Panel' Could

Posted in Emil on Nov 17, 2009

A must read:

(Nov. 16) -- It's federal law: All seriously injured emergency and trauma patients must be given equal lifesaving care, whether or not they can pay for it. But that's not happening, according to a new report. The study, conducted by Children's Hospital Boston research fellow Dr. Heather Rosen and colleagues from three other hospitals, found that uninsured trauma victims ages 18 to 30 are dying at an annual rate 89 percent higher than insured victims with identically severe injuries.

As the health reform tornado continues to swirl on Capitol Hill, the data could provide fresh ammunition for those pushing for expanded health insurance coverage.

The study, published today in the Archives of Surgery, examines the survival rates for patients brought to about 900 U.S. trauma centers between 2002 and 2006, analyzing some 690,000 patients who had suffered penetrating trauma -- such as wounds inflicted by a gun or knife -- or blunt trauma from vehicle crashes and falls. Earlier research found 18,000 extra deaths a year among uninsured victims of such injuries. Rosen and the other researchers chose to focus on the 18-to-30-year-old subset because they had fewer existing conditions -- comorbidity -- that muddy the evaluation of the cause of death.

I appreciate Starshine's defense but there isn't a need to be defensive.  Most programs for D/V survivors are accessible once you make the first connection with agencies which oversee D/V services, such as legal services, dental and plastic surgery reconstruction and

Triumph from Tragedy

Posted in Elaine of TSA on Oct 23, 2009

Catherine was an honor student and valedictorian of her class at Clifford Scott High School in East Orange, New Jersey. She was aspiring to be a doctor. A 14 year old in a stolen vehicle rammed into the car driven by Courtney, Catherine's twin sister, killing Catherine . She was buried in her prom dress. In an essay she once wrote Catherine said, "People will know my name not for fame or fortune or out of Vanity, but they will know me because I have helped someone."

Operation Kids has saved the lives of many critically ill children who were in need of life saving operations. The first was 'Baby Emily' Mendoza, who was given her life-saving heart operation with the help of the National Police Foundation and the Gift of Life Foundation, a non-profit that specializes in pioneering heart procedures. Baby Emily survived her operation and was featured on the national CBS morning news program The Early Show with Bryant Gumble. Operation Kids has been personally endorsed by John Walsh of America's Most Wanted and was profiled on the CBS Early Show.

Thanks Sheshe and Starshine

Just pass it on.  There is also a link where your click helps to pay for mamograms for women without the means to get or pay for them.  It costs you nothing to click and can sign up for daily reminders.

I click daily for each of them on the following sites Hunger, Breast Cancer, Children's Health, Literacy, Animals and the Rain Forest.

Look in the left hand column to sign up for daily reminders to click.

It is simple and free and can make a difference.

Thanks again ladies.
