Do not agree to pay anything till you have legal council which should be provided free of charge via JAG. Sometimes agreeing to pay fine or payments is considered admission of guilt and once done cannot be contested leaving you at risk for additional claims of loss and expenses. Get advice from JAG. And I am sure that even military housing is governed by same rules as private housing where they carry insurance on property. So again your losses should be only what you have lost in the way of possessions and perhaps deductibles if you are taken to small claims court or you make agreement with other parties to settle for deductible amount. If you choose to pay neighbors the deductible for damaged vehicles, be sure to have them sign off on agreement that issue is settled which is another thing the Jag can help you draw up.
Although I may not agree with your choice, I do respect that it is your choice and I truly wish you the best. I also believe that because it is "a choice" and not a basic necessity, that it is a goal you need to work for rather than request someone give you. This would also relieve anyone from any responsibility of contributing to an action which might prove harmful.
If it is only attention that you need, I hope you find another way to fulfill the need by a safer means.
Dear Marine Wife,
You and spouse have some time to prepare and make plans to handle finances while he is away. Most bases have free budget counselors available to service members. Check this site:

Best of luck to you w/finances and a thank you to you and your spouse because a soldier never serves alone.
God Bless
Dear battlecoxswain:
Renters insurance only covers your possessions. The owner of the home is responsible to carry insurance on premises w/you as tenant. Check with your JAG. Your losses should only be personal possessions lost in fire. Same goes for the vehicles.
Dear Michael - I know you are going to say that you have already made up your mind but even if that is the case, you will have to and should have to go for pre screening to determine if you are mentally fit to undergo such a procedure which I am sure is mandatory in cases such as this. Any Surgeon not willing to risk his license would insist upon it.

Maybe checking the Guinness book of records will offer you a better idea on how to get your 5 minutes of fame without mutilating your body and psyche. Please consider counseling before making such life altering decisions.

Dear Mary, Recently I made a credit-card payment on time using online bill pay but later received a late payment fee and interest charge. I complained and it was removed, but the lady on the phone told me to pay the account five days before the due date. Why? Because they don’t "process" the payments necessarily on the day they receive them, even electronically! Where in the information are we instructed to make the payment at least five days ahead to avoid fees? Lucy K., Tennessee
Dear Lucy, From what you tell me, it appears your creditor is in violation of The Fair Credit Billing Act of 1974 (FCBA), which regulates credit cards, also known as "open end" credit. Section 164 of the FCBA requires businesses that offer open end credit to credit all payments to your account on the date they’re received. (They may post the payment on a later date if doing so would not cause you to incur any late fees.) Creditors are permitted to set some reasonable rules for making payments, such as setting a reasonable deadline (time of day) for payment to be received to be credited on the same date. You can read the FCBA online at www.ftc.gov.http://ads.everydaycheapskate.com/ClickTrack.php?EC_EC_ID=241&EC_Ad_ID=17
If your credit card is issued by a national bank, you can file a complaint with the Comptroller of the Currency, the federal office that regulates national banks. (National banks can usually be identified because they have the words "national" or "national association" in their titles or the letters "N.A". or "NT&SA" following their titles.) See "Filing a Formal Complaint" at www.occ.treas.gov/customer.htm for instructions. If your card is not through a national bank, contact the Federal Reserve Board (www.federalreserve.gov) to make your complaint.

Dear Sortasmart,
On your blog explaining your situation, you posted the following "the financial aid office completely murdered my aid package to the point where dealing with them was like a full-time job."
Have you ever considered that extreme difficulties that you are forced to resolve first hand may be turned into opportunities? This may be the experience you need in order to start a business or find employment addressing this problem for others. I am sure yours is not the first to be botched by the financial aid office.
Use the tools you have developed and you can help yourself and benefit others as well.

Dear Sortasmart,
I have seen your posts and do not doubt that you are (smart). But you are also strong and resourceful. Those traits were probably instilled in you by your parents either intentionally or thru fate. Nevertheless you do possess them.
With age comes wisdom and at some point, you will look back at your romantic breakups and realize that they were not mistakes. Even though you felt at the time that the young man you felt you had so much in common with and was a source of strength was not man enough to be a partner to you. And it is far better to learn that before experiencing a failed marriage or bringing children into the picture.
So some of the things which have happened and you have overcome, have actually prepared you to understand and seek the things that will enhance your life and the people who will share and support your dreams in earnest.
Please know that the majority of us praying for you are not proselytizing, people do care and you are worthy of a happy fulfilling life so do not short change yourself.
